About the Institute

    San Antonio Combat Shuai Chiao (shwy jow) Institute is a lineage school. Much of the authentic Martial Arts taught at our Institute have been passed directly from Grandmaster Ch'ang Tung Sheng to Austin based Master John Wang, and from him to Head Instructor Kirk Woller. We feel privileged to have access to training and knowledge of this caliber.

    This school is based on the belief that knowledge and training methods can be openly shared and preserved for future generations. It is our intent to create a forum where students from various backgrounds and experience levels can come to train and to learn, without arrogance or ego, and share their various insights and expertise unique to  the Martial Arts. Our goal is that students develop a well-rounded base of combat  attributes as well as an open-minded  conceptual understanding of the nature and training for physical confrontation.

    Furthermore, once the student has acquired foundational skills, the emphasis is always placed on integrative skill, that is, sparring against real, uncooperative training partners using punches, kicks, locks, and throws.  All training is taught and learned within a safe, friendly, and fun environment.
